About National Dialogue Committee (NDC)
The National Dialogue Committee Kenya- (NDC-K) was established in 2012 as part fulfilment of requirements of the EAC Consultative Dialogue Framework (CDF). The CDF is anchored under Article 127(4) of the EAC Treaty and provides for a framework of structured dialogue between the EAC, its organs and institutions with the civil society and private sector organizations and other interest groups. The CDF seeks to promote a people-centered and market-driven integration process through structured inclusive and consultative dialogue. The dialogue is to ensure that the integration process proceeds with the involvement of East Africa citizens and is undertaken in the context of multi-stakeholder partnerships.
The National Dialogue Committee (NDC) fulfills the EAC dialogue agenda at the National level. It coordinates national activities within the provisions of the CDF including hosting the annual National Dialogue Forum (NDF) convened by the Ministry of East African Community and Northern Corridor Development. The Kenya NDC comprises of representatives of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), Civil Society Organizations under the East African Civil Society Organizations’ Forum (EACSOF) platform, and other interest’s through among others apex bodies representing Professional Associations, Trade unions, Local Governments, People With Disabilities, Youth, Religious organizations and political parties. convened by the Ministry of East African Community and Northern Corridor Development that also coordinates participation of other relevant government ministries and agencies.
The NDC reports to the Regional Dialogue Committee (RDC) that has representatives from member state’s NDC’s. The main role of the RDC is to coordinate facilitation of dialogue at the regional level including preparing for the annual Secretary Generals Forum.
